Although one of the newer chambers in the Atlanta region, the Georgia Indian Chamber of Commerce is making its presence felt in the international arena. “The 2008 Opportunity India conference is one of our initiatives designed to encourage trade opportunities for both investors from India coming to Atlanta and Georgia companies looking to India,” said Brenda Morant, Executive Director of the chamber.

There is growing interest in trade with India. According to Ken Stewart, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Georgia is the largest U.S. exporter of textile products to India, third in exports of paper to India and a major exporter of computers, electronics, chemicals and non-electric machinery. A number of Indian companies in a variety of industries also have established operations in the Atlanta region and Georgia. Reddy US Therapeutics, Inc., for example, located in Norcross occupies a state-of-the-art laboratory that is designed and equipped for molecular biological, biochemical and chemical research.
